The numbered curves represent the order of the distortion, so that curve 1 corresponds to the linear magnitude response, curve 2 to the 2nd order harmonic distortion, curve 3 to the 3rd order harmonic distortion, and so forth. The 6th order and higher distortion components are not illustrated.
