The red pixel is the reference pixel. Although the green and blue pixels are both in the spatial area of the reference pixel, only the green pixel is used to update the features of the reference. Indeed, the spectral profile of the blue pixel is not close enough to the spectral profile of the reference sample (by at least one wavelength; the blue and red pixels are separated by a distance greater than R λ )
